Frequently asked questions

What is an inertia base?

An inertia base is a structural steel frame filled with concrete, set on seismic spring isolators and installed under mechanical equipment. The mass of the concrete and the springs reduce the vibration the equipment transmits to the building structure.

Is the concrete supplied with the inertia base?

No. Deflection supplies the structural steel frame, with its reinforcing bars, and the isolators. The concrete is poured on the job site by the contractor.

Are the isolators included?

Yes. The required seismic spring isolators are calculated for the equipment and supplied with the base.

For which equipment do you build inertia bases?

For pumps, fans, compressors and various other equipment. Every base is custom-designed.

What information do you need for a quote?

The dimensions, model and weight of the equipment. We reply within 24-48 business hours.
