Acoustic Panels and Sound Barriers

Acoustic panels custom-built in Quebec to form a sound barrier around mechanical equipment.

A rooftop heat pump that disturbs the neighbours, a chiller too close to the offices, a complaint from the municipality: when equipment noise becomes a problem, an acoustic barrier reduces it before it reaches people.

Every Deflection sound barrier is custom-built to suit the needs of your project. Turnkey projects are our specialty: from the site visit to the installation of the acoustic panels, we take care of everything.

Description

The Deflection sound barrier is made of acoustic panels installed between noisy equipment and the area to protect. Placed around a heat pump, chiller, fan, condenser or industrial machine, this acoustic barrier reduces noise on rooftops or at ground level, indoors and outdoors.

Each sound barrier is custom-built in Quebec. The acoustic panels can form a straight line, an L, a U or any other shape, to suit the needs of the project. Several sizes are available.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between acoustic panels, a sound barrier and an acoustic barrier?

These terms describe the same solution: acoustic panels assembled between the noise source and the area to protect. It is also called a noise barrier. At Deflection, it is custom-built in Quebec, whatever name your specification uses.

What shapes can a sound barrier take?

A sound barrier can be straight, L-shaped, U-shaped or any other shape. Every barrier is custom-built to suit the needs of the project, and several sizes are available.

Do you offer a site visit?

Yes. We visit the site to assess your needs and define the acoustic barrier that suits your project.

Do you provide a compliance report?

Yes. A compliance report is provided on request, at the start and at the end of the project.

What is the acoustic performance of the panels?

The Deflection acoustic panel, galvanized steel with rock wool fill, has a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of 1.0 and a sound transmission class (STC) of 43. It is available in 2 in or 4 in thickness.

What is the difference between a sound barrier and an acoustic enclosure?

A sound barrier is placed on one or more sides of the equipment. An acoustic enclosure covers the equipment completely. The choice depends on the noise level to be reached.
