Acoustics vs. anti-vibration: what's the difference and how to tell them apart?
The article distinguishes two complementary approaches to noise control: acoustics addresses sound propagating through the air (measured in decibels), while anti-vibration targets mechanical movement transmitted through the building structure. A proper diagnosis determines whether a problem is airborne or structural — and the two technologies are often combined, for example isolation pads plus acoustic panels for a vibrating pump.
